In 2019, the Conservatory established The Music from the East Department, and implemented a pilot program for 59 children, aged 5-17. This program is the first and only music education program in Eastern music for school children, recognized by the Ministry of Education. The Department is situated in a public school in Katamonim, a low income section of Jerusalem that borders the Arab neighborhood of Bet Tzafafa. This location was selected because it is fertile ground from which to advance the revival and celebration of Sephardic culture for the entire city of Jerusalem<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>
