On Wednesday, April 19th, a highly emotional concert took place at the Warsaw Opera House, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This remarkable concert was a product of collaboration between the Joint Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory and Academy High School, along with the Chopin Academy Orchestra in Poland, under the masterful baton of Anna Sulkowska-Migun. Dignitaries and heads of state were present to witness this extraordinary event.

The Israeli-Polish orchestra performed Weinberg's 8 th Symphony, and presented the world premiere of a composition by Polish composer Elżbieta Sikora, which conveyed the testimonies of Holocaust survivors from concentration camps.

In preparation for the journey, Dr. Shulamit Sarid and pianist Benji Goodman gave our students a lecture about Weinberg’s 8th Symphony, a programmatic composition that portrays life in Poland between the two World Wars.

During their stay in Poland, our students visited the Warsaw Ghetto area, the Ghetto Museum and the new Polish Museum. They participated in intensive rehearsals in preparation for the concert, and received music lessons from professors of the Chopin Academy.

A series of chamber music concerts. Outstanding students of the Conservatory perform 5 concerts yearly at the Springer Hall of the Israel Museum.

The concerts are free of charge for the Museum visitors.
